VPS Services Explained

When you order a Virtual Private Server (VPS), you will have the choice between getting a barebone system at the cheapest price available. However, we also offer many additional services around your VPS. The illustration below shows off some of the features and services you can add to any VPS.

Server Resources

A VPS is a part of a server with guaranteed resources. With your VPS, you will be given a guaranteed level of RAM, CPU, Disk Space, and I/O resources. With the basic VPS fee you are paying your share of the costs for the actual piece of hardware. Maintaining a real dedicated server (hardware node) typically costs several hundred dollars per month. We only place a minimum number of Virtual Private Servers on each hardware node.

In addition to the basic VPS fees, we offer additional hardware features such as the option to have your VPS on its own dedicated harddrive ranging from SATA to SCSI, a day to day backup facility and a higher enterprise level network attached storage (NAS) for your own peace of mind, or you can even have your VPS hosted on a ultra fast iSCSI SAN.

Operating System

We offer several operating systems to choose from for your VPS, including (but not limited to) Centos (a whitestripped version of the commercial Redhat Enterprise!), Fedora Core, Suse or Debian. All Operating systems are free, both in terms of the concept behind the software and as in "free beer" or $0.

Control Panel

There are a few users who don't need a control panel, but those who try cPanel usually don't go back to pure command line server management. If you have previously had a shared hosting account with cPanel, you might not know that there is a similiar tool to manage an entire VPS or dedicate server. The name of the tool is Web Host Manager (WHM). WHM is a commercial product and requires a software license. The license for a dedicated server usually costs about USD $50 per month, but that's another great reason to go with a VPS: If you use WHM on a VPS, it costs USD $15 per month only and you get unlimited accounts.
Since a lot of users have a demand for easy to use software installers, we also offer the popular Fantastico software installer and RVSkins as addons to WHM for USD $5 extra per month. If you want to add the extremely popular cpSkins Software Auto Installer, it's another USD $5 per month on top of that.

VPS Management

If you opt in to our VPS Management option like all other customers do, we set up your VPS all the way as we would set up one of our shared hosting servers and we provide support to you as the customer just as we would if you'd be a shared hosting customer.
For $40 per month we manage the VPS and this includes 1 hour of support time per month. The support includes Server Updates, Security Audits and Hardening, Service Configuration, Troubleshooting. We have always had a very strong reputation on server security and we host a lot of people who work in the security field.
If you need additional help, we are always available for additional help at USD $40 per hour (or $10 per 15 minutes of consultation).
All in all, our VPS Management deal is hard to beat. All of our customers have opted in for the VPS Management feature so far!
