WordPress Security: How we start

Before we take over the management of a new WordPress site, we walk our way trough an internal checklist to offer the best possible WordPress Security. We check your site against the most common blacklists and we check it for malware, malicious javascripts and frames, drive by downloads, and suspicious redirections. Further on, we check your site for any anomalies or possible spam sources.

WordPress Security through our Managed WordPress Hosting

Among the blacklists we utilize are industry de facto standards such as Google Safe Browsing, Norton Safe Web, Phish tank, Opera browser, SiteAdvisor, Sucuri IP/URL malware (labs) blacklist, and Yandex (via Sophos). Our security check will ensure that all of your sites are free of malware or other harmful viruses. When we manage a WordPress website, we, of course, use state-of-the-art encryption and security standards to ensure that your sites are protected.

In addition to these off-site website scanners and management options, our Managed WordPress Hosting goes several steps beyond these first steps to provide a secure hosting environment and thus WordPress Security.

All of our provided servers go through a proactive server hardening process and are checked against very long checklists before we make them available on the internet. Once a server is made available on the internet, we utilize exploit and malware/virus scanner software that continuously looks for exploits or outgoing spam on a server and provides report of suggested enhancements. The software is updated on a daily basis automatically.

WordPress Security: Fighting spammers

For spam related issues, the software determines whether spam emails claiming to be sent from your hosting account actually do originate from the server. We can also trigger scans of the server to attempt identification of exploits which may actively be in use by hackers to exploit your hosting account and we can have all file uploads (no matter whether it’s via ftp or a web form upload) automatically scanned by the software.

While we cannot guarantee that the measures that we suggest will prevent exploitation, our measures reduce the risk of having your site hacked significantly and they can provide you with more information to help you track down any potential future exploit attempts.

WordPress Security: Taking the extra step

Your site’s security is our highest priority. With the help of our tools and experience, you can easily check the health of your sites, and if there are any problems, you can quickly fix them or hire us to fix any issues. Our software supports on-demand scanning of files, directories and user accounts for suspected exploits, viruses and suspicious resources (files, directories, symlinks, sockets). On request we can run scans of existing user data to see if exploits have been uploaded in the past or via methods not covered by the active scanning.
